Sterling Constructions were proud to deliver Llys yr Eglwys, a new development of modern one-bedroom homes built on the former Colcot Clinic site for the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
Designed to provide high-quality, affordable housing, the properties feature spacious open-plan kitchen and living areas, private balconies, off-street parking, and a range of environmentally sustainable technologies.
In line with the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Project Zero commitment to reach carbon neutrality by 2030, the homes incorporate forward-thinking green solutions such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and a striking living wall.
Cllr Sandra Perkes, Cabinet Member for Public Sector Housing and Tenant Engagement, commented:
“This project forms part of a wider strategy to meet the rising demand for council homes. Llys yr Eglwys offers tenants comfortable, modern accommodation within an established community and close to local amenities. Built to exacting standards, energy efficiency and sustainability were key considerations throughout the project.”
The scheme has already made a meaningful impact. New tenant Steven Platt shared his experience:
“It’s nice, clean and welcoming – worlds apart from temporary accommodation. This is my home now. I can settle, relax, and enjoy all the modern conveniences. Being from Barry, the location is perfect for me.”
Sterling Constructions are proud to have been the Main Contractor on this landmark project, delivering high-quality, sustainable homes that make a real difference to the community.
